PressReader is now fully integrated with the app, bringing thousands of quality newspapers and magazines from around the globe directly into the app experience patrons are already familiar with. No extra logins. No switching platforms.
What is the Solus Library App?
The Solus Library App gives libraries a single, branded space to bring their digital services together.
It’s built to simplify things on both sides: easier for staff to manage, and easier for patrons to discover and use.
What patrons experience
Getting started is straightforward. PressReader access is already enabled for most users within the app, so they can jump straight into browsing. For those who customize their settings, it can be toggled on in the app’s account preferences under the “Integrated readers” section.
Once enabled, PressReader content becomes part of the app’s core experience. Patrons can search for newspapers and magazines using the main search bar and narrow results specifically to PressReader titles if they prefer.
Within the app, they can browse:
- Over 8,000 newspapers and magazines
- Content in 60+ languages
- Local, national, and international titles
When patrons select a title, they’ll see a detailed view with key information at a glance, including: publication date, available languages and a selection of recent editions to explore. This makes it easy to browse beyond a single issue and discover more from the same publication.
From there, reading options are flexible. Patrons can:
- Open and read content directly within the app, with simple swipe navigation and zoom for comfortable reading.
- Or continue in the PressReader app (once downloaded) for a more immersive, full-feature experience.
- Everything is optimized for mobile, so patrons can move from discovery to reading in seconds — no friction, no extra steps.
Built for better discovery
Libraries can also showcase PressReader’s newspapers and magazines directly on the app’s home screen using curated content carousels. Instead of needing to search for PressReader specifically, patrons are introduced to content as they browse the app.
Titles can be promoted alongside other digital services, featured seasonally, or highlighted based on community interest, all within the same familiar space.
Designed for reading anywhere
PressReader content is automatically downloaded when a patron borrows it, making offline reading effortless. There’s nothing extra to manage. Once selected, content is ready to read even without an internet connection.
This means patrons can keep reading on the go, whether they’re commuting, travelling, or simply offline.
Borrowed titles are easy to find later, with quick access to recent reads and saved content within the app. Patrons can also jump back in right where they left off, making it simple to pick up a story without starting over.
For those who like to stay organized, downloaded issues can be removed at any time to free up space.
